Il existe, bien sûr, des dictionnaires du jazz, bien gros et fort documentés. Mais si l�on n�a pas un disque au moins de chacun d�eux, comment reconnaître tous ces musiciens cités ? comment les resituer dans leur époque ? identifier leur style ? Bref, à quoi ressemble la musique de tel musicien, dont je connais le nom, mais qui ne figure pas dans ma discothèque ? L�ambition modeste de notre petit dictionnaire sonore est donc de proposer 80 illustrations musicales à travers une sélection de musiciens parmi les plus connus et importants de l�histoire du jazz de1921 à 1952.
